Grand Jury To Be Convened In Hergert Probe
Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning's request to assemble a grand jury to investigate embattled University of Nebraska Regent Dave Hergert has been granted by a Lancaster County Judge.
From the Omaha World-Herald (requires registration, or use BugMeNot):
In a move that turns up the heat on Hergert, Bruning on Monday referred to a grand jury the criminal inquiry into the Mitchell, Neb., businessman's 2004 campaign for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
"When I reviewed the State Patrol's [investigation of Hergert], it became clear to me from the totality of the evidence that it was intentional. I do not have reasonable doubt," Bruning told a press conference.
He said Hergert may have broken six criminal laws, including a possible felony.
He said that a grand jury would add a "layer of credibility" to the process and that, perhaps more important, a grand jury has the power to force uncooperative witnesses to testify.

It's time to get this crook kicked out of office and the University of Nebraska's tarnished image restored!
Christianity at Its Finest
Hear of the University of Kansas professor who created a class examining intelligent design? Well, he recently got beat up (and cancelled the course, but I digress).
This was just too damn funny to not post.
Way to show the love of Christ, guys. Attayboy!
